Yes—work and education are encouraged at Grace House

Brevard Grace House encourages employment, education, volunteering, or approved productive activity as part of a structured recovery routine. Residents are expected to complete at least 32 hours each week of these activities alongside house meetings, shared responsibilities, and recovery commitments.

This does not mean every job or course schedule automatically fits. Discuss your actual hours, travel, appointments, and house expectations with admissions before accepting a placement. Grace House opens January 15, 2027; inquiries now are for future admission, not an immediate move-in.

Ask what counts toward the 32 hours

A job, a class schedule, volunteering, and other approved activity can involve very different time commitments. Ask admissions how hours are counted, what documentation is needed, and whether a proposed combination meets the requirement. Do not assume that job searching, study time, or travel automatically counts.

If you are not yet working or enrolled, explain your situation during the admissions conversation. Ask what an approved plan would look like. The website does not promise a grace period, an exemption, a job, résumé services, or enrollment assistance.

  • Bring your actual shift or class schedule
  • Clarify which activities and hours are approved
  • Ask how your first week will be handled
  • Confirm meeting, screening, and household commitments
  • Review curfew and schedule-change procedures

Check the commute before choosing a shift

Women comparing housing from Palm Bay, Melbourne, Rockledge, Cocoa, or Titusville should test the complete trip to work or school, not just the distance between cities. Obtain the confirmed house location first. A municipality guide is not a Grace House branch address.

If you use public transit, check current Space Coast Area Transit schedules for both the outward and return journeys, including the specific day you need to travel. Allow time for walking and connections, and identify a backup option for a missed trip. Do not assume a house provides rides or sits on a particular bus route.

Build one calendar for work and recovery

Start with fixed commitments: shifts, classes, outside appointments, house meetings, and any required recovery activities. Then add travel, meals, laundry, shared responsibilities, and rest. A schedule that only includes paid hours can overlook the tasks that make the week workable.

Review conflicts with management rather than assuming work overrides a house rule. Ask how shift changes, exams, overtime, and evening obligations are handled under the written agreement. Exact curfew times and exception rules have not been published for Grace House, so obtain those details directly before committing to a schedule.

Plan income without relying on a promised outcome

The all-inclusive Grace House housing rate is $195 per week, plus a one-time $100 move-in fee. Weekly group coaching, utilities, Wi-Fi, laundry, kitchen and coffee bar access, and household supplies are included. Budget separately for your own work or study needs and ask about anything you are unsure is covered.

Live-in house management, coaching, and peers can support everyday accountability, but they do not guarantee employment or academic results and do not replace clinical care.
