Pack lighter than you think
Most recovery residences are shared homes with limited personal storage, and move-in day goes more smoothly when you bring what you will actually use in the first month. Start with clothing for work, exercise, and Florida weather; comfortable shoes; and personal items that make a shared room feel like yours without crowding a roommate.
Before packing anything questionable—medications, supplements, sharps, or products containing alcohol—ask admissions how the house handles it. Some items are restricted under house medication protocols, and it is far easier to clarify in advance than at the door.
What Brevard Grace House already provides
You do not need to arrive with a day-one shopping list. Brevard Grace House stocks toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, and dishwashing soap, and every new resident receives a welcome care package with body wash, a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, and snacks.
The home also includes high-speed Wi-Fi, on-site laundry, a fully equipped kitchen, and a coffee bar, all covered by the $195 all-inclusive weekly rate. Bring your preferred personal extras—your own toiletries, haircare, and comfort items—but the basics are waiting for you.
- Clothing for work, exercise, and warm weather
- Personal toiletries beyond the provided basics
- Prescribed medications in original packaging
- ID, insurance card, and important documents
- A small amount of personal comfort items
Documents and essentials to keep together
Keep identification, insurance information, prescription details, and any paperwork admissions has requested in one folder you carry yourself. If your care team needs to share records, ask about the secure process rather than texting medical documents.
Bring prescribed medications in their original packaging and discuss storage and self-administration procedures with admissions before arrival. Brevard Grace House welcomes women taking prescribed medication-assisted treatment, including Suboxone, Vivitrol, or methadone, under house protocols.
What to leave behind
Alcohol, non-prescribed or illicit substances, drug paraphernalia, and weapons are prohibited, and some medications are restricted under house medication protocols. Admissions reviews the full prohibited-items list before move-in—ask for it in writing and pack against it.
Also consider leaving behind anything you would be upset to lose in a shared home. Valuables and large collections are usually better stored with family or left for a later move.
Plan arrival day before it arrives
Confirm your move-in date, arrival time, the confirmed address, and the total amount due before you travel. The one-time $100 move-in fee and the first payment should be planned, not improvised. Brevard Grace House opens January 15, 2027 and is not currently open, so all move-ins are scheduled around the opening.
