Recovery needs somewhere to go
Structured housing gives your week a frame: a substance-free home, shared responsibilities, weekly meetings, and coaching. But the hours around that frame matter too. In early recovery, empty evenings and weekends are where old habits resurface, so one of the most useful things you can plan is not a treatment service at all—it is a short list of places and activities you actually want to return to.
Brevard Grace House is a women-only recovery residence opening January 15, 2027 and accepting inquiries for future admission. This guide is general planning help for women in Brevard County; it is not a claim about Grace House activities or outings, and it is not medical advice.
Start with the coast you already live near
One of Brevard County’s honest advantages is free: the beach. A sunrise walk, a swim, or simply sitting on the sand with coffee costs nothing and gives a morning a shape. The same goes for the county’s waterfront parks, riverfront trails, and green spaces—Brevard County’s parks and recreation department maintains public parks across the county, and most are free or low cost.
Keep it simple and repeatable. A routine you can do three times a week beats an ambitious plan you do once. Check hours, parking, and any fees directly with the park or facility rather than assuming, and let your schedule—not a wishlist—decide what stays on the list.
Use the free and low-cost spaces around you
Public libraries are quietly one of the best recovery resources in any county: free internet, quiet space, books, classes, and a place to be that is not your room. Community centers, faith communities, and volunteer-driven groups fill similar roles, and many volunteer roles themselves count toward the 32-hour weekly expectation of work, education, volunteering, or approved productive activity at Grace House.
Our Community Resources page lists Brevard organizations such as Circles of Care and Recovery Connections of Central Florida, along with crisis lines—988, 211 Brevard, and 911—for moments when you need more than an activity. Ask each organization what help it currently offers rather than assuming it provides housing, groups, or referrals.
- Pick two or three places you want to return to weekly
- Confirm hours, fees, and transportation before relying on them
- Consider volunteer roles that count toward weekly expectations
- Keep the crisis lines—988, 211, 911—saved in your phone
- Tell your house or coach what your routine looks like
Connect through people, not just places
Activities stick better when someone expects you. The strongest version of a sober routine pairs places with people: a standing walk with a housemate, a recurring meeting, a weekly volunteer shift. Our guide to women’s recovery meetings in Brevard County covers how to find groups in the area, and the house’s own weekly meetings and group coaching give you a built-in starting circle.
Be cautious with any scene that centers drinking or using, even socially. You do not owe anyone your presence at events that make recovery harder, and “everyone goes” is not a reason to test yourself early. Recovery housing gives you a legitimate, respectful way to decline: your program has expectations, and your time is already committed.
Keep the plan realistic—and confirm house rules directly
Grace House expects at least 32 hours per week of employment, education, volunteering, or approved productive activity, with weekly house meetings, shared responsibilities, and weekly group coaching alongside. Your activity plan should fit around those commitments, not compete with them. Exact curfew and visitor rules should be confirmed with admissions rather than assumed.
The rate is $195 per week, all-inclusive, plus a one-time $100 move-in fee, with utilities, Wi-Fi, on-site laundry, a kitchen and coffee bar, stocked supplies, and a welcome care package included. The home welcomes women taking prescribed Medication-Assisted Treatment with self-administration under house protocols. Children cannot currently live with residents.
If you are planning for the January 15, 2027 opening, call or text (407) 758-0958 and name Brevard Grace House. An inquiry does not reserve a bed. Grace House is going through the FARR Level 2 certification review process and will be a FARR Level 2 certified recovery residence once certified; coaching and peer support complement licensed clinical care rather than replace it.
